bullet Comprehensive Income Tax Course
(Basic Part I & Intermediate Part II with a total of 20 Lessons, 3 Hours per Lesson)

Comprehensive Income Tax Course (Basic Part I and Intermediate Part II): This 20-lesson course will give you a solid foundation in individual tax preparation, enabling you to complete all of the standard returns. There are no entrance requirements. With this knowledge, you can earn extra money as a tax professional

This course focuses on the majority of tax forms needed to fill out tax returns for yourself and the general public. In the course you should acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to complete federal income tax returns and research tax issues. Because "Practice makes perfect", the course requires at least two tax returns prepared for most lessons, one of which will be done as a class project and one of which will be completed individually and submitted to your instructor.

Because we believe that one of the critical skills necessary to accurate tax preparation is the ability to conduct an effective interview, the course will also include information sheets on interview techniques. It may be suggested by your instructor that you conduct in-class interviews with one student being the taxpayer and the other the tax preparer. The appendix has sample interview sheets that cover almost every class session.

Materials from The Income Tax School’s Comprehensive Income Tax Workbook are presented each session. Additionally, IRS Publication 17, Your Federal Income Tax, should be used for supplemental reading.

The basic unit is the class session and each session has a session summary, in-class practice and home assignments. Live classes are eligible for 30 hours of CPE. Non-Interactive self study classes are eligible for 15 hours of CPE. Online classes are not currently eligible for CPE credit.
